[ TEXTILE INDUSTRY - THREAD GUIDE ]

The customer's request

Substitution of the current thread guide with an equal plastic component.

Project goals:
 > 40% reduction of the component cost.
> 40% reduction of the component weight to increase the speed of the spinning head.
Ensure a design and color of the component that is suitable for a technological facility.
Ensure a high rigidity and wear resistance in the yarn passage area.
Rethinking of the component to simplify its maintenance/replacement after the installation.
Rethinking of the component to allow an easy management of multiple versions and adjustment on the production line.

The challenge

Redesigning a component subjected to strong mechanical stress and high wear;
Redesigning the component according to the additional functions required and the dimensional constraints
given by the geometry of the final product;
Finding a technopolymer with adequate functional and aesthetic characteristics;
Keeping the production costs as low as possible.

The solution

Re-engineering of the component: the new product has been divided into two components in order to
allow easy version changes and the possibility/facility of regulations;
Formulation and development, in collaboration with the supplier, of a super polymer reinforced with
carbon fibers with the exact RAL color requested by the customer;
Integration of ceramic inserts in the yarn passage area through overmoulding process.
